Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Diego CA
103 AM PDT Wed Mar 25 2026

.SYNOPSIS...
High temperatures for inland areas will remain around 15 to 20
degrees above average into the weekend with some record daily
temperatures for heat continuing to be tied or broken, mainly for
the mountains and deserts but occasionally for the inland valleys
as well. The marine layer will become shallower for Thursday
through Saturday with coastal low clouds only spreading inland
into coastal areas for early Friday and Saturday. Mid and high
clouds will spread across the area for this weekend into early
next week. High temperatures will cool only slightly during the
weekend with greater cooling spreading inland early next week as a
low pressure system moves toward the California coast.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)...
The marine layer is around 2000 feet deep with widespread low
clouds over the coastal waters expected to continue to spread into
portions of the inland valleys through sunrise. For later today
into Saturday, the marine layer will gradually decrease in depth
with night and morning coastal low clouds spreading inland into
the western valleys for early Thursday and mostly into just
coastal areas for early Friday and early Saturday.

There will be slight warming of high temperatures for today and
again on Thursday with additional warming of a few degrees on
Friday. High temperatures for today will range from around 5
degrees above average near the coast to around 20 degrees above
average for the mountains and high desert. High temperatures on
Friday will range from around 10 degrees above average near the
coast to 20 to 25 degrees above average for the San Diego County
mountains. Friday high temperatures will range from the 70s near
the coast to the upper 80s to mid 90s for the Inland Empire with
the upper 90s to 103 for the lower deserts.

There will be stronger and gusty southwest winds for the deserts
onto the desert slopes of the mountains for this afternoon and
evening with gusts to 30 to 40 mph.

&&

.LONG TERM (Saturday through Tuesday)...
There will be only slight cooling during the weekend with Sunday
high temperatures still around 10 degrees above average near the
coast and 15 to 20 degrees above average for inland areas. High
temperatures for the weekend will range from the 70s near the
coast to the lower to mid 90s for the Inland Empire with the lower
deserts in the upper 90s to 103.

For early next week, high pressure aloft will weaken and onshore
flow will strengthen as a low pressure system over the eastern
Pacific moves toward the Californa coast. High temperatures on
Monday will cool around 4 to 8 degrees. The cooling will continue
on Tuesday with high temperatures as much as another 8 to 12
degrees cooler for the mountains, high desert, and inland valleys.
High temperatures for next Tuesday for the coast and valleys will
be mostly in the upper 60s to mid 70s with the lower deserts in
the 80s. High temperatures for coastal areas next Tuesday will be
around 5 degrees above average with the mountains a few degrees
below average.
